Something happened to change my life one day. I got an invitation from Higy to draw some little cartoons for her book. I was working in a long stay care home six days a week, 9 to 5 each day, and sleeping nearly all of Sundays and public holidays.
I spent my money and spare time shopping, buying new clothes, shoes and delicious food; having dinner with my friends and travelling overseas. I didn’t have enough time to relax or exercise or to do the creative things I really like.
Life was boring.
After I read and started to draw for Higy’s book. I realized that in a good life we should be more aware of our feelings, our needs and our place in the world and what we can give back to it.
I wasn’t living to express myself and my creativity. I was afraid when I started Higy’s book that I couldn’t finish it as I hadn’t done this type of drawing before. But I could! And I really like how Higy’s book looks now and how my friends like it.
I decided to leave my old job and live and work in a way that expresses and uses the things most important to me. I have grown so much while working on Higy’s book and learnt to trust my skills and myself.
